�Toto, I�ve a feeling we�re not in Kansas anymore.� No you�re not in Kansas; you�re at Seton Hill University’s (SHU) House on Haunted Hill. This year’s theme is �The Wizard of Oz.�
The Make-A-Wish Foundation, along with many other clubs here at SHU are participating in this special event.
Make-A-Wish helps fulfill the wishes of terminally ill children all over the United States.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to Make-A-Wish, as well as the clubs that are involved, �but usually the clubs just reject the offer as a service project,� said Kathy Fajt, administrative assistant for the dean of student services.
Children and adults have a chance to see their favorite characters from the Wizard of Oz and experience some of the most memorable parts of the movie.
Member of the Make-a-Wish Club, Cayla Glover, a junior, said, �First of all, it can’tbe that scary because there are going to be mostly children at this event ranging from age three to eight.�
�But basically what is going to happen is there is going to be a tent on Sullivan (Hall�s) lawn, which will be the haunted house; it will be handicap- accessible for those children and adults that need it. You walk into the tent to the tornado room, and the tour guides, (Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion), will take the children through the scenes of the movie,� Glover added.
Glover said visitors will follow the yellow brick road, meet the munchkins, and all of the characters as visitors are guided through the movie scenes.
There will also be a carnival outside of the tent, where all of the clubs will set up their stations and provide fun activities for the children to do.
Melissa Lutz, a junior, is volunteering on behalf on the Class of 2008. She will be decorating cookies.
�Every year it is a lot of fun, and the children that attend always have such a great time,� Lutz said.
�The students that help put this on always make it a wonderful experience for the kids.�
This event is going to take place on October 20-21, and tickets cost $3.00 each. If visitors ages 12 and under appear in costume, they will receive a $1.00 rebate.
