Buying online saves dimes

One of the most expensive tasks of each new semester is the journey to buy books. Many money-savvy individuals seek new ways, aside from campus bookstores, of purchasing their textbooks.
Andrea Zalno, a freshman, uses Half.com to buy her textbooks, and just recently bought a chemistry book on this site in which she saved approximately $100.
Half.com is a web site that is affiliated with eBay.com, but does not require a bid on the book. This web site allows buyers to search for textbooks or other items, and find sellers from all 50 states willing to sell their item for a modest price.

Any individual can sell or buy an item on this website, and the posting of an item to sell is free of charge.
David McGhee, a senior, uses the Internet to purchase and sell his books. McGhee’s favorite website to sell and buy books is Amazon.com.
This website is also free to post the item you are wishing to sell, and he has found that it was a much faster process of selling his textbooks than Half.com.
Out of approximately nine books that McGhee posted on Amazon.com, seven were sold within a short period of time.
Meredith Harber, a junior, feels the same way as McGhee. She has used Amazon.com to purchase and sell books in the past and feels that it is a great way to save money.
Another web site that allows posting and selling is Campusbooks.com. It is, however, intended more for bookstores around the United States, rather than individuals.
So when the time comes to sell or buy textbooks, take a walk to the nearest computer and save money.
