There is delicious new dining in town. The Boulevard is Greensburg’s newest restaurant located on Route 30 next to Barnes & Noble.
At first I was skeptical and thought that it would be just another typical restaurant with the same old food and atmosphere, but I was pleasantly surprised.
When I first walked in, I was impressed with the cleanliness and the large dining area.
There is a beautiful bar that is conveniently tucked away from most of the other dining areas and there are many booths and tables available for non-smokers. The walls are perfectly arranged with large, framed pictures of old and current movie stars. Some of my favorites were Greta Garbo, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Bruce Willis.
The menu is also themed after Hollywood’s stars. There are salads, sandwiches, and dinners that are named after some of the cinematic greats.
While reading through the appetizers, I saw many delicious-sounding items, but I had to go with one of my all time favorites, stuffed hot peppers, to see how this new Greensburg eatery compared to my other favorite restaurants. For dinner I chose to order a Boulevard specialty: the Boulevard brushetta chicken.
I must say that the Boulevard has proven itself to this restaurant guru. The hot peppers were phenomenal. They were bold enough so you knew you were eating hot peppers, but they didn’tbring you to tears. They were covered with melted mozzarella and a red sauce that had a slightly sweet flavor that complimented the heat from the peppers.
My entre was equally delicious. I was especially happy that I had the option of choosing my portion size. There was a small portion that included one chicken breast, and a larger portion that included two breasts. I think that this is a great way for people to have control over their eating habits, and everyone should take advantage of this. I wish I could do this at all restaurants.
The chicken was juicy and tender, topped with sauted fresh tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and Parmesan cheese. The final touch that really made the dish was a drizzle of sweet balsamic reduction over the top of the dish. I was able to get a side of fresh vegetables sauted in olive oil and perfectly seasoned.
This dining experience was a great success in my book and I am anxious to return and try out their homemade wood-fired pizzas.
And just in case you money-conscious students are worried about the price, I wouldn’tstress. The prices are student-friendly with their average menu price around $9.00. I would definitely suggest that you all take a trip down to the Boulevard and try it for yourselves.
