I hope that everyone had an enjoyable fall break and you are all ready to enjoy some of the fun events happening during the second half of this semester.

As most of our club and organization members are aware, SHGA (Seton Hill Government Association) began Club Event Days this semester. It is an opportunity financially sponsored by SAC (Student-Body Activities Council) that gives clubs and organizations a chance to plan programming for our campus one Friday or Saturday evening during the semester. Each club has built their event off of a different type of theme. It is also a free event open to all SHU students.

Our second club event of the semester will be taking place this Friday, October 16. The Family and Consumer Sciences club is hosting a Halloween themed movie on DeChantal Lawn. The movie “A Haunting in Connecticut” will be showing, delicious treats and hot cider will be available and some items for sale as a little fundraiser for FCS. Be sure to bring a blanket and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Our first Sunday Night Leadership Series of the semester will be kicking off on Sunday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m. This event is open to everyone, but especially to our young campus leaders. Come and learn a little more about leadership and what it takes to grow as both a leader and a person. Pizza will be served at 5 p.m. and we will conclude before the start of mass.

SHGA’s second annual Peace Release on Sullivan Lawn will be taking place on Monday, October 19 at 4 p.m. We will be offering the Peace Pledge for all attendees to sign and a reading of prayer, and then everyone will release one balloon. The strings are organic cotton and will not hurt the environment or animals. We hope that this very short event can fit into your schedule and that you have an opportunity to stop by.

Finally, I would like to make a mention of Midnight Bingo on Friday, November 6 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Lowe Dining Hall. This is SHGA’s largest event of the semester and all proceeds this time around will benefit the Humane Society of Westmoreland County. We promise to have just as great of prizes this year, and an even greater grand prize than in years past. Your first Bingo card is free, so bring some money for extra cards and snacks!

As always, questions, comments, and concerns are welcome! Send an email to shga@setonhill.edu or drop a note in our suggestion box outside our office in Lowe 113.
And clubs and organizations, do not forget to put together and hand in your binders. They are worth up to $40 extra for your club. Include an officer update form, a list of members, ideas/plans for upcoming things this semester, and minutes from previous meetings.

Have a great weekend everyone!
