February Funnies kicks off with ‘Talent’ hopeful

The youthful tones of Justin Bieber and the warbling vocals of Christina Aguilera filled Reeves Theatre on Feb. 4. Was there a celebrity convention in town? No, the voices belonged to the talented comedian and impressionist Melissa Villasenor as she entertained Seton Hill University (SHU) students with her skills.

The America’s Got Talent semifinalist wowed the audience with her spot-on impressions of celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Wanda Sykes. Her light-hearted and quirky humor had the audience laughing.

“She was really funny. It was nice that she could be funny without being crude,” said freshman Natalie Balfe after seeing the act. Melissa Villasenor, who also voices various characters for Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, provided a great start to February Funnies.

Every Saturday in Feb., a new comedian entertains at SHU, allowing students a chance to relax and unwind. Eric O’Shea is the next comedian performing, so if you’re looking for a good time, stop by Reeves Theatre this Saturday!
