Grammy nominations bring solid artists to light

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will showcase a variety of artists who sent shockwaves over last year’s billboard charts. The awards will air on CBS Sunday, Feb. 10.

This past year has produced a new era of radio music and offered a plethora of solid and interesting albums for the listening public. However, the expected artists like Pink and Carly Rae Jepsen have crept their way on the lists.

Last year was huge for the rock/ Americana scene, making the radio worth listening to again. Artists like Mumford and Sons and The Lumineers show the promise of longevity. Jack White has taken his juggernaut of a career to the next level with “Blunderbuss” up for “Album of the Year.”

The country wonder girl Taylor Swift and pop icon Kelly Clarkson appear for several nominations, including record of the year. Adele seems to have locked up the award for “Best Pop Solo Performance,” which is shaping up to be the “closest” race.

Despite Fun. being one of the most overplayed artists of last year, they have earned their nomination for “Best New Artist”. Florence and the Machine produced one of the most interesting musical performances of the year and are up for “Best Pop Vocal Album”. Undoubtedly, this will be a spectacular night for the music industry.
