The real benefit of studying abroad: Traveling across Europe

Well it is official; I made it to the one month mile marker in my study abroad program! I cannot believe how fast time flies when you are traveling, and now I am making a point to make everyday count.

A few weekends ago I got the opportunity to visit the Blarney Castle and of course kiss the Blarney stone. (Both obviously necessary for the experience, but much less sanitary than expected)

Now I feel like I am acquainted to the city and I have spent the last few weekends exploring other parts of Ireland and booking trips to see parts of Europe I have yet to discover.

If I could give any piece of advice to those thinking about studying abroad it would have to be to plan trips and book flights with RyanAir. The low cost makes the trips you never expected to go on, possible. Perfect for those on a college budget.

Just last weekend two of my friends and I went to London. The short time away from my new “home” in Dublin was one of my favorite weekends abroad yet. In just two days we got to see the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and even took a riverboat tour of the Thames River.

There is no doubt the weekend was intense and I never stopped moving, but it was more than worth it. Immediately after we got back from our nonstop weekend we booked two other trips: one to Paris, France and another flight to Brussels, Belgium and a train ride to Amsterdam.

Once across the pond, the trips to Europe seem so easy and accessible. I am eager to take my travel bug with me as I continue to make this experience last a lifetime.
