Chase Parker was crowned 2014 homecoming king and Meghan Mastroianni was crowned homecoming queen. The winners were announced during halftime at Seton Hill’s football game against West Chester on Sept. 20.

Members of the homecoming court included the king and queen as well as Katie Gammon, Kelly Brennan, Minnu Suresh, Corrine Gahagen, Ryan Michaelowski, Riley Giaquinto, Trevor Cyr, and William Curtis.

“Being selected king was a very humbling experience,” Parker said, “I feel honored to even be considered, especially alongside an amazing court.” Parker is a senior and a member of the Seton Hill University football team. He is from South Bend, IN.

For Suresh, being selected for homecoming court, “meant that there were people who thought I had made an impact at Seton Hill or on themselves and voted for me to be on the homecoming court.”

“Everyone is so full of school spirit for the week while spending time with family and friends,” Giaquinto said in regards to the community environment of homecoming weekend.

Prior to the game, SHU also held the griffin homecoming parade. The parade went through downtown Greensburg. The homecoming court was featured along with other floats from campus groups, the Syrian shriners and antique cars.

According to Westmoreland sports, the homecoming game had the largest crowd in five years. “Regardless of the result of the game, it was great to have that many people in the stands supporting our team. It means more to the team than people may know,” Parker said, “The team is heading in the right direction, and we need that same kind of support.”

There also was a tailgating event for the football game that took place near Offutt Field. Following the game students, alumni and family gathered for Fifth Quarter at Headkeeper in Greensburg.
