The Seton Hill University men’s soccer team (2-0-1) will host the Mercyhurst University Lakers (2-1) on Wednesday, September 13 for the Griffins’ first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) competition of the season. The Griffins look to avenge last year’s PSAC semifinal loss to the Lakers. The Griffins were winning 2-1 with less than 10 minutes left when the Lakers scored. The game went to overtime and within three minutes the Lakers scored and ended the Griffins’ season.

“This is going to be a tough game,” said midfielder Jeff Pergola. “We have to show up and put in the work.”

According to Pergola, the Griffins are excited and they have a few keys to victory.

“We need to move the ball quickly,” said Pergola. “If we work hard on defense and move the ball, it will be a lot easier for us on offense.”

Pergola thinks that the Lakers are very tough, but they have a weakness.

“Their outside backs are not as skilled as their center-midfielders and strikers,” said Pergola.

The game takes place on Dick’s Sporting Goods Field with the scheduled start time at 2 p.m.
