Let’s get involved: New clubs on the Hill

Seton Hill University has a variety of clubs to get involved with. Since there is a diversity of clubs, this lets students come together outside the classroom. There are many new clubs on campus that have a broad spectrum of talents.

Club Conspiracy
The conspiracy club was started by sophomores Kaleigh Muko and Kayleigh Ventrone, who are co-presidents, and senior Kait Germanoski, who is the vice president. They are all Griffin Guides who have a love for conspiracies. They knew that they had to soon turn their discussions into a club here on the Hill. They not only study conspiracies, but they also look at true crime and the supernatural. Come on out Oct. 1 for their first meeting in Boyle 156. Then after that, they meet every other Monday at 7 p.m.

Computer Science Club
The Computer Science Club wants to help people use technology in order to better not only their lives, but also everyone’s by showing fellow Setonions how they can create with technology. Every student is creative in their own way, and the Computer Science Club wants to pave that technology path. The club was put together by recent 2018 SHU graduate Luigi Scognamiglio. Their meeting time is Wednesdays, bimonthly at 5 p.m. in Lynch 106, which is a computer science room. Any Setonian is welcome to join this club and they are looking for different mindsets for the variety of projects they have that are student run. The projects are not only computer science related, but you could also work on a music video or learning how to use a newer form of software. They invite you to “Come join, and create with us!”

Seton Hill Roller Hockey Team
The roller hockey team was created by junior Sheldon Kiser. He wanted Setonians here on the Hill to have new experiences. They will be playing out of Murrysville Sportzone and will be playing against teams such as Westmoreland Community College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and many more. Times and dates are TBA. There will be a player dues in order to pay for the jerseys, practices and games. Kiser is looking for approximately 10 players and a goalie; if you are interested, he can be contacted at s.kiser@setonhill.edu.

Griffins for Human Rights Club
The Griffins for Human Rights Club was created by sophomore Mark Nealon. The club wants to make an impact on certain human rights issues that people seem to pass by in Greensburg and in our government. The first meeting was held on Sept. 20 at 8:30 p.m. Then, they will have a meeting every other week at this time. The goal this year is to create a wider awareness of this club and what their goals are.

Criminal Justice Club and Alpha Phi Sigma
The Criminal Justice Club and Alpha Phi Sigma were formed in order for Setonians to have an outlet for a voice in the criminal justice sphere. Anyone is welcome to join the club, but you have to be a criminal justice major or related degree to join Alpha Phi Sigma. You also need a certain GPA for the fraternity. They meet every other Thursday, alternating with senate, in Admin 405 at 4:30 p.m. This year, they will be doing a research project and traveling to Baltimore for a conference in order to present what they have established.

As you can see, there is a wide variety of clubs on campus. Come out and join fellow Setonians in what they love. If you have a club idea, contact SHGA and they can help you fill out the paperwork.
