An information session for the Seton Hill University (SHU) Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Master’s program was held Wednesday October 25, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. at the MFT Center in downtown Greensburg.
This information session addressed the history of the program, careers in MFT, and answered any questions individuals had about the program, said Dane Zimmer, program advisor, Peace Corps coordinator and adjunct communication faculty for the Office of Graduate and Adult Studies.
Susan Cooley, MFT program director, was also there to answer questions and inform individuals about the MFT program.
The information session is designed to educate interested students about the field of marriage and family therapy and Seton Hill’s accredited program.
The program is one of 96 programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), Cooley said.
Cooley added, Seton Hill University is the only COAMFTE accredited program in marriage and family therapy in Western Pennsylvania.
It is in this information session that students and individuals get a tour of the state of the art training facility at the SHU Center for Family Therapy, on West Otterman Street in Greensburg.
K. Elaine Esola, administrative assistant for the Center for Family Therapy and MFT program, said that these information sessions are held every month, and enables individuals to see what the program is about and what is expected of them when entering into the program.
Information about the requirements for admission, application and admission process, financial aid, program curriculum, state licensure, and membership in the American Associate for Marriage and Family Therapy is also discussed at these sessions.
For any individuals interested in the MFT master’s program more information about these sessions can be attained by contacting either Dane Zimmer at zimmer@setonhill.edu or in the Office of Graduate and Adult Studies, or by contacting Susan Cooley at cooley@setonhill.edu.
