“My brother goes here and talked me into doing it,” said Dedola in regards to his reason of applying to SHU.

Originally he did not want to apply to SHU because it would be the same university as his brother; he wanted to go somewhere else. Luckily for Dedola, his brother did convince him otherwise. He had applied to other schools such as Duquesne University, Allegheny College and Grove City College. After applying to SHU, Dedola received a letter a few weeks later stating that if he sent another essay and teacher recommendation he would be eligible to receive the full-tuition scholarship.

“It made my college decision really easy,” said Dedola, who was excited about the scholarship and SHU. He likes the campus as well as the people. Dedola also likes SHU because it is a small university; the teacher to student ratio is good, and a student can have more of a relationship with professors.

With a schedule that includes biology, chemistry and labs for each of the latter classes, along with his Liberal Arts core classes, Dedola is very busy. However, he still likes to attend sporting events and other activities on the weekends on campus.

He has many goals to accomplish while being at SHU; “I need to keep my grades up, hopefully I can apply to some good dental schools – I want to be an orthodontist.”

Although he wrestled for 13 years and is listed on the roster of the wrestling team, Dedola is not actually wrestling at SHU.

He has decided to focus more on his studies. Dedola is helping the wrestling team instead. He is assisting the coach with whatever is needed of him; currently he is helping to keep track of statistics.
