Try to pace your final year end rush

The end is nigh. Or at least the end of this semester is. For most of us at Seton Hill University (SHU), this ending is a much appreciated break from the seemingly endless hustle and bustle of school work. The conclusion of this fall semester also brings a new class of SHU graduates and the beginning of a new year.

However, as it happens at the end of every semester, no matter what school you attend, we have to make it through a week of finals to be free. From the Dec. 6 to Dec. 10, students will be furiously writing essays, taking fiendish exams and will possibly be so ramped up on caffeine that twitching will become commonplace.
Professors too will be feeling the stress during finals when they have to grade all of those essays, tests and projects. No matter how you look at it, the last week of school is bad for everyone.
But you can survive it all. The key is to approach whatever finals you may have as a marathon race. Pace your work load so that you do not burn out half way through your assignments. Crashing from a caffeine or sugar high will not be your friend either, so try to stop yourself from reaching for that fifth can of Redbull or that third bag of sweets.
Get as much sleep as you possibly can. This is one of the most important factors in completing your work without sacrificing quality. You might think that you perform your best work under pressure, but add in a dose of sleep deprivation and your ability to focus steadily declines the more you work.
Keep thinking that everything is almost over. Circle the date of your last final on your calendar, sporting a huge grin when you scribble out that date after that last paper or test. Obliterate it in pen and you will feel even better.
Strive for surviving this last week at SHU, whether you have multiple tests or a few papers to write. After all, if you survive this round, it means that you can do it again next semester.
According to http://www.lifeisajoke.com :
Prayer Said Before Finals
Now I lay me
Down to study,
I pray the Lord I
Won’t go nutty.
If I should fail to
Learn this junk,
I pray the Lord
I will not flunk.
But if I do,
Don’t pity me at all,
Just lay my bones
In the Study Hall.
Tell my Prof
I did my best,
Then pile my
Books upon my chest.
Now I lay me
Down to rest,
And pray I’ll pass
Tomorrow’s test.
If I should die before I wake,
That’s one less test I’ll have to take.
