Pittsburgh hosts variety of bands this summer

Neon lights slowly lit up the stage as Marina, wearing a wedding veil and holding a bouquet, walked out to the lilting notes of her song “Homewrecker” as the screaming crowd joined her in chanting the opening lyrics.

Marina and the Diamonds held the penultimate show of her Lonely Hearts Club Tour May 28 at Stage AE in Pittsburgh.

The high-energy opening act, Charli XCX, had the audience pumped up and ready for Marina.

Marina took total control of the stage with her energetic personality and powerful voice, as she performed songs from her 2012 album Electra Heart and several of her older songs as well. The colorful props, light show, frequent costume changes and confetti that fell on the audience all added to the experience.

Crowd favorites included “Radioactive”, “Oh no!” and “Primadonna”. These songs had fans jumping and waving their arms in the air as they sang the lyrics at the top of their lungs.

Throughout the night Marina repeatedly told the crowd how she loved their enthusiasm, and after the show tweeted, “Pittsburgh, what an experience.”
