What is the Disney College Program?
Hi, my name is Olivia Schultz and I am currently in Florida participating in the Disney College Program. 
Many of you may be asking, “What is the Disney College Program?” You also have the chance to choose wherever you want to work at Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California. The college program is open to any student no matter the age that is currently in college or just graduated. Disney provides housing for each participant, but they do take weekly rent straight out of your paycheck. Disney also does pay you for the work that you do! There are many roles that a student can be interested in: there are character performer roles, merchandise roles, and attraction roles. Disney also gives you the opportunity to take classes; they offer college courses that count for credits and special Disney courses. There also a lot of great benefits that you get for working for the Walt Disney company. You get free theme park admission into the Disney parks on your days off! I would recommend anyone no matter what your major is to look into the Disney College Program because it is an amazing opportunity.
Disney Magic
When I first found out that I was going to be a part of the college program I was afraid that the magic of Disney was going to be ruined. Now that I am here the magic of Disney is even greater! My favorite thing to do with our younger guests is to create magical moments. One of the magical moments that I have gotten to create was asking a little boy who had a birthday button to come with me because Goofy wanted to wish him happy birthday. The little boy was so speechless once he heard Goofy’s voice on the phone. His Mom was almost in tears from seeing her son get so excited. That will always be my favorite magical moment that I have created for a guest. There is a lot more magic that Disney creates but you have to figure that out for yourself! Disney’s magic is like nothing you will ever experience again in your life. I still am in awe every time I walk down main street as a guest and see the castle. For me the magic of Disney is always going to be there.
My Disney Diary
My role with Disney is merchandise at EPCOT in the store Mouse Gear. I started my program on January 12th and I will finish my program on May 29th. My major is Hospitality and Tourism and Disney is teaching me more about hospitality. Even though I am just in merchandise I get to have a lot of amazing interactions with our guests. I love working at EPCOT because there are people from all over the world who come to visit the World showcase. Since I get to talk to people from all over the world I feel that I am getting a lot of experience for my major. My major is Hospitality and Tourism and being able to communicate with guests everyday is definitely helping me. This experience is helping me learn that hospitality can happen anywhere in the industry. You do not have to be working in a hotel somewhere.
