Seton Hill University will close out its showing of “The Drowsy Chaperone” with one performance tonight and one tomorrow. Both shows start at 8 p.m. at the William Ryan Granger Theatre at the Performing Arts Center.
“Our first weekend of shows was amazing,” said junior musical theater major Noah Telford. “We had full houses all three nights and the audiences were super responsive and had a great time.”
“The Drowsy Chaperone” is a 2006 Broadway musical that is a parody of musicals of the 1920s. Telford plays the role of Robert Martin, who is the groom of Janet Van de Graaff, played by sophomore Leah Prestogeorge.
“Prepping for this character was pretty cool because I had to take on the role of another actor playing a character because ‘Drowsy’ is a show within a show,” Telford said. “The style is 1920s vaudeville, so it’s been fun to play in that style for a while. Also, I had to learn how to roller-skate.”
The show is also led by sophomore Cameron Nickel, who plays the character Man in Chair and accompanies the audience throughout the show.
“I would absolutely recommend this show to anyone because it really, truly has something for everyone,” Telford said. “It’s a really talented cast full of wonderful performers, the comedy is smart and witty and the music is superb to boot.”
