E-Magnify to hold annual conference in Pittsburgh

The struggle for a woman to get ahead in the business world is often referred to as the glass ceiling, as if there is some kind of invisible wall preventing her from growing any further.
With the help of E-Magnify, the Seton Hill University (SHU) women’s business center, that struggle is lessened.
We are focusing on growth and helping women to grow their businesses to a million dollars or more, said Maureen OBrien, the educational and entrepreneurial programs coordinator.

Since the program was founded at SHU in 1991, E-Magnify has helped thousands of women, many disabled and disadvantaged, reach their full potential and has tried to break that glass ceiling. The center offers counseling and training services, even helping with networking and setting up small businesses.
Every year, E-Magnify holds a Building a World-Class Business conference in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The conference is an all-day event where women can learn ways to expand their businesses through vendors, networking, forums, panels, discussions and workshops from many successful women throughout the nation.
This year’s conference, which will be held at the Westin Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh on March 20, features a very special keynote speaker, Geraldine Laybourne.
In 2000, Laybourne raised $600 million dollars to launch the Oxygen television network, of which she is now the CEO and chairman. Oxygen is the only network currently owned and operated entirely by women.
SHU students can attend E-Magnify’s conference in order to gain advantages and greater opportunities for success in the business world after graduation.
We are, at this point, taking volunteers and are inviting people just to come and take away from the conference…volunteers getting the experiences of working with and networking with people prominent in business in the Pittsburgh regional area, said Emily Evans, an intern at E-Magnify.
One can register to attend the Building a World-Class Business conference on E-Magnify’s website. Costs are $175 for E-Magnify members and $195 for non- members.
In order to register to attend the conference, or learn more about E-Magnify and the services it offers, visit http://www.e-magnify.com/index.asp. or call 724-830-4625.
While women may not have completely broken through that glass ceiling yet, E-Magnify has helped women to put some damaging cracks in it.
