Talent Show Performers Cultivate School Spirit

By MAXWELL REESE

Nine students had the opportunity to share their skills at the 2025 Homecoming Talent Show that was held on the evening of Oct. 15. As the students performed, a panel of judges would determine which of their acts would be crowned the winner of the night.

A first year student, Toluwanimi O Daniel, received the first place prize of a $100 gift card for singing “Little Blue” by Jacob Collier. First year students, Anna Alt and Addy Garcia, received the second place of a $50 gift card for their magic show. De’Mario Manning, a sophomore, received the third place prize of a $25 dollar giftcard for reading his poetry.

“Tolu O Daniel’s performance was truly astonishing, especially after the poetry,” said Manning. “His music filled the room with hope and peace.”

“This event was truly amazing,” said O Daniel. “I was a part of the show but I actually sat down just to enjoy the multiple talents that we have here at Seton Hill.”

“I have genuine pride when I see people get up on the stage and put themselves out there,” said Senior Elena Traficante, one of the show’s hosts. “It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of the audience, especially considering Cecilian Hall normally fills up for this event, so I give them a lot of credit.”

“It was wonderful to see everyone’s unique talents and performances on display,” said Austin Veiga, director of residence and commuter life and one of the night’s judges. “I think seeing Ike Obizuo on the piano was one of the more surprising performances of the night! It wasn’t a skill I knew he had so it was great to see that on full display. It’s wonderful when our students get to demonstrate their hidden talents and put them on display.”

“It was really exciting to see the talent from everyone in the community,” said Junior Jessie Prantl, a member of the audience.

“Each year the talent show demonstrates Seton Hill’s school spirit by fostering a welcoming environment for students of all ages and abilities to come together for one night to cheer each other on,” said Traficante.

“The general idea that so many people are willing to take the time out of their night to engage in this lighthearted event says enough about Seton Hill’s commitment to school spirit and supporting one another,” Traficante said.
