Class of 2007 leaves seal of approval

Soon Seton Hill University (SHU) will say goodbye to the seniors of 2007 as they graduate, move on in the world, and leave this small campus that was their home for the past four years. When the time comes, the seniors leave with the hopes that they will give something back to the school that has given them so much.
Every year there is a remnant left behind from the graduating class, and this year it is a three-foot diameter bronze Griffin Seal. It will be embedded in the center of the sidewalk in front of the McKenna Center.

The senior class is also responsible for their class banner, tree and dedication plaque.
The Class of 2007 has been very successful raising funds for class projects. They have sold t-shirts, care packages for finals, and other crafty items such as custom made angel light switch plates, said Kathy Fajt, administrative assistant for student services and advisor for the class of 2007.
Our goal is to raise at least $3000 and our current balance is about $2100. If we reach our goal, the money will cover the price as well as shipping and handling and also installment, said senior class vice president Mike Diezmos, who is also the Setonian photo editor.
The class gift was discussed and agreed upon during meetings, as well as being posted on facebook.
The idea of our senior gift was to donate a Griffin. We are all Griffins whether you play a sport or are involved in activities, said senior class president Rachel Ramsey.
Previous class gifts have included the fountain outside Reeves Memorial Library from the class of 2004, the benches outside of McKenna and the television in the work-out room from the class of 2005, and the clock outside of Havey Hall from the class of 2006.
This year’s senior gift will be presented by class president, Rachel Ramsey to Joann Boyle, president of SHU, at the Honors Convocation to be held Friday, May 11.
