Mad Mex Restaurant is located in Monroeville, 15 minutes from Greensburg, Pa., in the Miracle Mile shopping plaza on Old William Penn Highway.
Mad Mex caters to all walks of life, from vegetarians to meat lovers. Their menu is diverse, filled with delicious entres; most are under ten dollars.
From burritos to fajitas, Mad Mex gives silly titles to their food; such as the Angry Hippy burrito, a large, soft, flour tortilla filled with your choice of tofu, beef, or chicken accompanied with cheese, rice, and beans folded into the size of a small pillow.
I have eaten the Angry Hippy every time I visit the place. Most hippies are mellow and not angry, so the Angry Hippy is a delightful play on words.
I have tried their other dishes as well; all of them are very good. I try not to stray from my favorite tofu filled entre. If burritos are not your forte, try something else, the menu is vast and fun to read, and every entre has a silly story to it.
Open late, Mad Mex also has half-price specials on their meals from 10 p.m. to midnight.
With several locations in the greater Pittsburgh area, Mad Mex is not to be missed. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself and your friends to a piggie burrito while you are still young.
