“Pretty much the same as I am now but a little more mature and I was a female known as Wanda. Other than that I haven’t changed all that much.”

Michael Kent is a magician from Columbus, Ohio and describes himself as “One part comic, one part magician, and one part smartass.” On Friday, February 8, Kent performed at SHU as one of the February Funnies presented by Student Activities Council (SAC). Kent’s humor and magic has been described by America’s colleges as “clever, sarcastic and absolute fun.”

Kent believes most magicians treat their audiences like they’re stupid, but he does it differently. His mixture of comedy and sarcasm creates an act much different from all other magicians. He pretends to read the minds of audience members and is also known to perform surgery on rubber chickens.

According to www.kentmagic.com, “He was terrific both in terms of the entertainment in his show and his professionalism. His show had a couple hundred physicists alternately amazed and laughing, quite an accomplishment,” said Tom Lemberger, from the Physics Department, of the Ohio State University.

Kent is also known as a contributing author of the book, “How to Achieve Unlimited Success: Strategies for Creating Extraordinary Results.” He teamed up with several other professional speakers and entertainers. Kent wrote about his “use of magic and positive attitude to pursue his dreams.”
