As the weather gets colder, it’s time to pull last year’s winter attire out from the back of your closet. If you’re on a budget and still want new pieces, department stores and fashion-forward shops are the best places to look.
Cardigans and vintage sweaters for both men and women are always in fashion for the cold weather. Pairing it with any style of jeans or leggings for females will give anyone a fashionable yet simple look.
Popular department stores like Macy’s, JCPenny and Bon-Ton all carry great winter attire from clothing to outerwear.
“Department stores are great to shop at. They have everything you could possibly think of that you may need for winter. However, I still love to go to places like H&M or Forever 21 to find cute, fashion-forward pieces,” said freshman Elisa Thomas.
H&M and Urban Outfitters are stores that carry a variety of styles of clothing. Whether you’re going for a vintage look or a more casual-simplistic look, it’s easy to find trendy styles for this winter season.
Jean or leather jackets are a trend that will never die in the fashion world. Pairing one on top of a simple long-sleeved shirt or turtleneck will always keep one warm during the cold weather. Adding a scarf and faux fur hat can top off this stylish look.
“Faux fur hats are great for both men and women. They’re extremely warm and comfortable to wear for winter. I got mine from Urban Outfitters,” said India Lindsey, senior.
Trendy outerwear is also easy to find. Detailed coats are in fashion during any winter season. Pleated-skirt coats and faux fur-collared coats are in for women this season. For males, simple yet sophisticated pea coats are worn.
Ugg season is also quickly taking over this fall and winter season again. Black Friday is the best day to get winter shoes and attire. Uggs usually run from $150 and up, but with the mega sales on Black Friday, one may find a better deal.
“Uggs are so comfortable to wear and they really keep your feet warm throughout this extremely cold Pennsylvania weather. It’s great because they even have boots for men,” said Shayla Jones, sophomore.
Whether you want to develop your own personal style or change it up, now is the time to shop.
