Why We Want to Hear From You
By ISABEL GERHEIM
A publication is only as strong as the community it serves. While our student journalists strive to cover the issues and stories that shape our Seton Hill community, journalism is never a one way conversation.
The Setonian editorial board welcomes our community to be a part of these conversations. The board has been working towards creating a dedicated “Letters to the Editor” in our publication for your perspective, criticism, insight and debate.
Open dialogue is built on communities. Whether you agree with our coverage, want to offer a different angle or feel an important topic is being overlooked, this is a space for you to express your thoughts.
In light of America’s 250 Anniversary, the nation’s foundational ideals were built on the premise of “We the People” – the belief that a community’s guiding principles are not set in stone, but exist as a living document that stays alive only because we keep talking about it. As a student publication, the Setonian relies on the exact same principle.
A campus news magazine isn’t only a record of events, it’s the embodiment of living conversation that thrives when the student body actively participates. The board’s work to establish a “Letters to the Editor” section directly embodies this ideology, giving you the power to shape, question and continue the narrative of our campus community.
We invite you to make your voice heard. Send your short form letters to the editor to Setonian@gmail.com or go to our Instagram page and website to find the google forms to submit.
We the board hold the right to accept, edit or decline submissions for publication. All submissions are required to be accompanied by the name and contact information of the author. Unsigned pieces will not be accepted. Under extremely sensitive circumstances editors will consult with the author regarding an exception to withholding identity.
