Plans for three new parking lots were approved by the city of Greensburg council on Sept. 8th. The lots will be off Seton Hill Drive, near St. Mary’s Hall and Field Three. According to Paul Roman, the vice president for finance, it is estimated that they should be constructed by June of 2009.The parking lots are an investment by the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), who recently released plans to open an additional location of LECOM at Seton Hill University.
“As you would expect, we don’t have enough parking as it is so we couldn’t introduce additional students to the campus without additional parking,” said Roman.

“It’s a good thing they’re going to have parking. Welcoming them is important,” said Jackie Jones, a junior. “We need to be seen as a community instead of a bubble on our own.”
The parking will be controlled and the LECOM students will have their own passes and an access system to get in and out of their lot. The lot should hold around 250 parking spaces.
“It’s ridiculous that new parking is coming and we can’t even use the lot,” said Candice Shaughnessy, a junior. “I can’t find a place to park to save my life.”
“As we were planning, we tried to find sites that made sense and not all sites make sense especially when you look at the typography of Seton Hill,” said Roman. “While I believe it’s a beautiful campus and being on a hill is a wonderful thing, anytime in comes to construction, it creates its own issues.”
