It’s frozen yogurt, so it’s good for you, right? Isn’t that how it works?
I’m going to remain under the impression that frozen yogurt is better for you than its ice cream colleagues. And joining this new frozen yogurt, or “froyo” craze, is Mr. Toppins Yogurt in Greensburg.
Locally created and established, this charming shop was “created to hip-up the everyday take on frozen yogurt,” according to their website. It’s the very first one of its kind, hoping to eventually grow nationwide.
The quaint little boutique that opened on March 29 is located behind the mall, just down the sidewalk from the new Edo Hibachi and not far from the Greensburg Carmike Cinema. You can’t miss the bright orange accents and the inviting storefront.
When you enter the shop, you’re greeted by friendly employees, happy to help you with anything you may need. For the most part though, this place is pretty much a self-serve experience.
Pick up your bright orange bowl and fill it with all the froyo and toppings your heart desires. There are 15 icy flavors to choose from including a few of their signature flavors, The Greatest Vanilla of All Time, Your Grandma’s Yellow Cake Batter and Rockstar Peanutbutter Perfection. And the best thing about it? Five of the 15 delicious flavors are twist combinations, mixing two great flavors into a stellar blend.
You can also choose from dozens of toppings. There’s a little bit of everything for every interest in their 50 options, including Fruit Loops, strawberries, Reese’s Peanut Butter sauce and granola. And did I mention that all of their fruit is fresh every day?
If you want something other than a cup full of froyo, you can instead try their signature Froyo Floats. This upgrade lets you add Mountain Dew, Root Beer, Coke or whatever soda you’d like to your froyo.
It’s a great location to stop in for some froyo or to sit down and take a load off. The clean, modern layout is inviting—even the napkin holders draw your attention with their clever, entertaining adages.
Mr. Toppins Yogurt is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. You can check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or visit their website, www.mrtoppins.com. Be sure to tag your photos and updates with Mr. Toppins and you might just win a free froyo or upgrade. Summertime is just around the corner, but you don’t have to wait for the sun and heat to enjoy some frozen yogurt goodness.
