Diltz advances to consolation semifinals in wrestling championships

UPDATE: After falling in the consolation finals, Alan Diltz finished in sixth place after forfeiting the fifth place match due to injury.

Freshman Alan Diltz is the only Griffin remaining after day one of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Birmingham, Ala. With two wins and one loss yesterday, Diltz advanced to the third consolation round and then to the consolation semifinals after his victory this morning. Diltz earned All American honors with his two victories yesterday and will finish in the top eight of his weight class.

Seton Hill University sent a school record five wrestlers to the championships this season. Defending national runner-up Joey Alessandro fell in the second consolation round, and Ty Lydic, Zach Voytek and Billy Bowlen each went 0-2 in the competition.
