Lowen Ashleigh is an aspiring author, struggling to make ends meet. But when she’s offered a job that will excel her career in writing and pull her out of financial troubles, Lowen’s life takes a thrilling turn. Jeremy Crawford, husband of the infamous Verity Crawford, hires Lowen to continue writing a book series that Verity is unable to finish due to an accident that left her incapacitated. When Lowen arrives at Jeremey and Verity’s home, she expects to go through Verity’s notes for the next books in the series so she can quietly complete the novels in the comfort of her own home. What Lowen doesn’t expect to find is Verity’s hidden autobiography that includes horrifying admissions, including what really happened the day her daughter drowned in their lake. Lowen tries to hide the autobiography from Jeremey, knowing that Verity’s admissions will devastate him. But as Lowen reads the autobiography, and as her feelings for Jeremy amplify, keeping the autobiography from Jeremy becomes more difficult. Even though Jeremy is a devoted and loving husband to Verity, there are some truths that make it impossible to love anyone, right?

Personally, I really enjoyed this novel. Verity is a romantic thriller, and I believe Colleen Hoover did a fantastic job at balancing both the thriller and romantic elements throughout the story. The story concept itself was very original which I appreciated because I read a lot of romance and thriller novels. The thriller elements of this book were so mind-blowing that I flew through Verity. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time that I read this book, and I didn’t expect that, especially from Colleen Hoover. Honestly, this book had me guessing until the very end of the novel. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t figure out what would happen at the end. And don’t even get me started on the romantic parts of the novel. Let’s just say they were very entertaining to read. If you like smut with a thrilling plot, then you’d probably like this novel. I also enjoyed the characters themselves. All the characters were interesting, original, and dynamic.

Overall, I highly recommend this book, especially to those who love romance and thriller novels. There truly wasn’t anything I disliked about Verity. The story kept me on my toes like a thriller should, and I swooned over the romance aspect of the novel. If you’re looking for an exciting, fast-paced read, give Verity by Colleen Hoover a try!
